It’s the middle of springtime.

This week, I needed a little break.

I noticed that I’ve been feeling a bit tired and muddled, so it was time to change my perspective.

I took the day off on Monday and gave myself a break.

Sometimes when we feel like we are worn out by our day-to-day, we need a break. A break in the routine. A change of scenery. Something to rejuvenate ourselves and give us a new perspective.

So, I took my son to the beach.

I didn’t do any work. I just enjoyed being there. I didn’t check my phone.

I saw beautiful yellow flowers growing in the sand as we walked to the beach. I looked out at the ocean. I listened to the waves. I ran in the sand, made sand castles, watched sea birds, and discovered red lady bugs crawling in the sand.

How wonderful it was to just be present with my son and the ocean and not worry about what was coming next, what needed to get done, and all the other things that take up the day (and my mind).

I felt so refreshed afterwards. The fresh air and change of scenery and allowing myself to laugh and be in the moment was just what I needed to shake off that muddled tired feeling.

Think about what you can do to give yourself a bit of respite. Do you need a change of scenery? Do you need to go outside? Or maybe to play some music? Maybe you just need to sit in quiet? Do a restorative yoga session (you have the chance for one of these with me on Friday during my Facebook Livestream)? What will refresh you?

Allow yourself to take a break from the usual this spring. This is a wonderful way to take care of yourself and renew your mind, body, and spirit.

And what better time, as we are in the throws of springtime. Allow the renewal of nature to inspire you to renew yourself.
