Being a Trauma Informed Yoga teacher, I am very aware of how important Mental HEALTH is.

Yoga helped me work through my own trauma, and I have even come to call it my own personal anti-depressant.

Through the process of working through my trauma, I realized that I needed support. When I felt shame about talking about my trauma with friends and family, but needed to talk to SOMEONE, I found some great therapists to help me through. Maintaining my yoga practice helped me stay grounded, move the trauma out of my body, and breathe. Talking to a Therapist helped me release shamefeel heard, and see things with a new perspective. Together they helped me heal and feel empowered.

I came to realize how important SUPPORT is to self-care.

It’s Mental Health Awareness Month, so I wanted to share some resources to help you take care of your mental health when you need the SUPPORT that you deserve.

Therapy Apps

It can be hard to find a therapist right now due to overwhelming demand (at least you know YOU ARE NOT ALONE in needing to find someone to talk to). Try an app to speak or text with a licensed therapist or a qualified mental health coach.

Good news! A lot of Health Insurance Companies have started to allow their clients access to some of these types of therapy apps for free. So, you may also want to check and see what your Health Plan offers you. If you don’t have health insurance, many of these apps have much more affordable rates than conventional therapy.

Therapists

Do you have Health Insurance that covers therapy? Or perhaps you just want an in-person experience?

It can be hard to wade through the Insurance Companies’ search portal to find what you need, or know where to start if you are trying to find a therapist on your own.

Psychology Today has search service where you can find qualified therapists and read a little more about them and their practice. Each therapist writes a personal statement that you can read to help you find the best person to help support you in your mental health journey.

Of course, there are more resources to help you get the support you need. Check out my Resources page on my website to find help for abuse, addiction, crisis intervention, as well as referrals to other healers that I’ve worked with.

Wishing you Mental HEALTH.
